Fresh Aussie Melons
Melons: All year long, all Australian.
The beauty of such a big country is that we can grow and enjoy melons all year. Our melons are grown all around Australia in New South Wales, Queensland, the Northern Territory, all the way to Western Australia.
Where do our melons come from?
Our melons are grown all the way from NSW to the Northern Territory.
Dark skin, dry stem.
Watermelons with dark green skin will be the ripest. Also look for a dry stem, and dull skin.
Also look for the sweet spot.
For a little extra sweetness, look for melons with an orange ‘field spot’ – from where the fruit’s been lying on the ground.
Off the rind, in a salad or as a snack.
Fresh from the rind is the classic way to enjoy melons. Also cut them up cubed to freshen up your salad game, or to freeze as a healthy snack.
Cut and wrap.
Once you’ve cut your melons open, store them in the fridge.
