Bobotie - Traditional South African Meal
1. Sautée onion in oil over medium heat until soft. Add mince, curry powder, white sugar, mashed bread, hearbs and spices, lemon juice or vinegar and mix well. Add one well-beaten egg and mix.
2. Place mixture in an oven proof dish and add any optional items. Place bay or lemon leaves on top. Bake at 170°oC for 30-40 mins.
3. Beat remaining eggs and milk together and pour over the top of the meat and bake for a further 25-30 mins, until nicely browned on top.
4. Serve with rice (can have turmeric added to it) or side salad.
