How to Make Bobotie – Traditional South African Meal
- Sautée onion in oil over medium heat until soft. Add mince, curry powder, white sugar, mashed bread, hearbs and spices, lemon juice or vinegar and mix well. Add one well-beaten egg and mix.
- Place mixture in an oven proof dish and add any optional items. Place bay or lemon leaves on top. Bake at 170°C for 30-40 mins.
- Beat remaining eggs and milk together and pour over the top of the meat and bake for a further 25-30 mins, until nicely browned on top.
- Serve with rice (can have turmeric added to it) or side salad.
