We’ve really, really upped our fresh game.

Our fresh fruit and vegetables are carefully inspected before being sold at ALDI. So, when you’re inspecting it, you know it’s been inspected by our inspectors. Inspectors (what a great word) make sure our produce is ticking all the right boxes, ensuring the right amount of sweetness, temperature, firmness and even colour on the skin.

We’ve made a commitment to quality.

From bananas to berries. From full cream milk to fresh Australian meat. We’ve upped our fresh game across the board, doing whatever it takes to ensure the produce that hits our shelves will be a big hit at your house too. Find out more below.

Our gadgets help us take the measure of our produce.

Refractometer:

A tool designed to ensure the product is meeting “sweetness and sugar” levels. Of course, customers will expect a different level of sweetness from a strawberry compared to a kiwi fruit, so each product has its own benchmark. That’s right – we turn sweetness into a competition.

Penetrometer:

A tool to measure the bite of our apples, pears, stone fruit and kiwi fruit, based on how customers expect a piece of produce to feel when they bite into it. Is the apple crunchy enough? The penetrometer lets us know. Thanks, penetrometer!

Densimeter:

Australians take their avocados seriously and so do we. This is a tool specifically for measuring their firmness. Because it’s the avocado’s world. We’re just living in it.

Stocking Seasonally:

Providing the best quality for the best price also means supplying seasonally.

Nobody wants a rock hard avo or a mushy eggplant. We work closely with leading Australian growers to make sure we’re stocking the right produce at the right times, while also monitoring customer demand to provide a wide and varying range of fresh options.

Meet the Trimbolis.

The Trimbolis have been growing and packing citrus for over 20 years. Located in Hanwood NSW, the family grows more than 400 tonnes of citrus for ALDI every single year. They also source extra fruit for us from over 40 approved growers across the Griffith region, the Murray Valley, the NSW Riverina and the Riverland of South Australia.

Our meat has to meet high expectations.

Just like every other ALDI product, our meat range undergoes stringent quality control procedures. We continuously evaluate our fresh meat products for taste, size, fat specifications and cooking instructions, to ensure they’re mouth-wateringly delicious and juicy when you cook them.

The result? ALDI cleaned up at the Canstar Blue Supermarket Meat Awards in all four meat categories – Beef, Chicken, Lamb and Pork. Take a look here.

CANSTAR x 4

Unbelievably Good Beef

Bindaree Beef is one of Australia’s finest beef producers. They are also one of ALDI’s suppliers for our Australian Highland Park Beef. We’ve been partnering with Bindaree for 16 years now – happy anniversary Bindaree! They are located across Northern NSW and Southern Queensland, contributing to our award-winning range and high grade cuts like the Highland Park Beef Eye Fillet Steak.

Perfect Pork

Our excellent cuts of pork are carefully prepared. ALDI is regularly audited on food safety, quality and animal welfare standards. Our fresh pork suppliers are Australian Pork Industry Quality Assurance (APIQ®) certified.

Choice Chicken

At ALDI, we know our customers want more welfare-conscious choices. That’s why we stock a wide selection of free range products, including our Willowton Free Range Chickens. Accredited to Free Range Egg and Poultry Australia (FREPA) standards, this farming practice increases quality of life for the chickens, which means better quality chicken for our customers.

We take animal welfare seriously.

All ALDI branded fresh meat suppliers (beef, lamb, pork and poultry) are subject to independent audits. These audits ensure suppliers adhere to the standards of the Australian Livestock Processing Industry Animal Welfare Certification System (AAWCS). These standards are developed and reviewed by a committee that includes industry experts, government representatives and animal welfare scientists and organisations.

Our commitment to sustainable seafood.

Seems obvious right? We think so. We’re committed to protecting our oceans’ ecosystems, so that we can continue to enjoy fish and seafood responsibly for generations to come. We are therefore pretty proud to be the Australian retailer with the largest range of MSC certified, own-label fish and seafood. Check out ALDI’s other responsibly sourced fish and seafood products – look for our Future Fish logo. You’ll instantly know it is certified as sustainably fished or farmed, or sourced from a fishery that is improving conservation of wild fish populations.

Greenpeace have rated ALDI Australia’s most responsible supermarket for our commitment to sourcing tuna responsibly.

Yep. Our entire tuna range is sourced responsibly. We think it’s the only way it should be sourced. Find out where your tuna comes from by using our ‘Trace your Tuna’ tool here.

Our dairy is award-winning and good for the planet. That’s a win-win.

ALDI’s Just Organic dairy range allows customers to support organic dairy farming. This has a number of benefits, including better animal welfare standards. We’ve also picked up several Dairy Industry Association of Australia Awards along the way. Mmmmmmmmmm. Take a look at our award-winning cheeses here.
