Twinkle Star Pastry Wrapped Turkhamken

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees
  2. Unwrap the turhamken and place on a baking tray, spray with olive oil and cover with foil.
  3. Bake at 180 for 1 hour and 20 minutes, remove from the oven and rest for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and cut the string away.
  4. Cut two sheets of frozen puff pastry into 1 cm long strips.
    On a sheet of baking paper or a cold bench top, place one whole piece of puff that has been cut into 1 cm strips and remake it into its original size and shape.
    Lift every second strip up and place another individual strip across the pastry in a woven lattice method.
  5. Using next strip, the alternate pattern should be a created by lifting every second strip up.
    Repeat using this method alternating the strips that are lifted up, use all the pastry strips.
  6. With a third piece of pastry cut some stars for a festive feel.
  7. Place the pastry lattice over the turhamken and brush with beaten egg wash.
    Return to the oven and cook at 180 degrees for another 30 minutes or until golden.
  8. Add the pastry stars to a baking tray and brush with egg wash and bake for 30 minutes or golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and rest the turhamken for 10 minutes.
    Then serve with your choice of salad or greens.
