Grape & Celery Bugs

Method

  1. Thinly slice apple, orange and cucumber (with skin on).
  2. To make the Snails: Cut different lengths of celery to form the bodies of your snails. These lengths need to fit which ‘shell’ you’re going to use (a slice of apple, orange, cucumber or tomato) with a little extra space for the ‘head’ (2 blueberries or a grape).
  3. Fill the celery lengths with either cream cheese, almond spread or peanut butter.
  4. Stand up either a slice of apple, orange, cucumber or tomato in the filling to make the shell. Leave some room at one end of the celery.
  5. Pop in a green grape or 2 blueberries, to form the snail’s head.
  6. Dot with 2 spots of cream cheese and stick on 2 tiny sultanas to form the eyes.
  7. Slice the leftover celery into matchsticks to form antennae. Using a toothpick, make 2 tiny holes for the antennae to stand in.
  8. To make the Caterpillars: Cut 10cm lengths of celery. Fill them with either cream cheese, almond spread or peanut butter.
  9. Stick 5 green grapes, red grapes or blueberries into the filling to form the body.
  10. Then use either a red or green grape or cherry tomato to form the head. Dot with 2 spots of cream cheese and stick on 2 tiny raisins to form the eyes.
  11. Slice the left over celery into matchsticks to form antennae. Using a cocktail stick, make 2 tiny holes for the antennae to stand in.
