How to Make a Microwave Chocolate Mug Cake


  1. Chop the chocolate into small pieces.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, cacao powder, chopped chocolate, baking powder and salt in a large, microwave-safe mug (350-370ml capacity).
  3. Stir in milk, oil, water and vanilla extract. Stir well to ensure all dry ingredients are mixed and combined with the wet ingredients, making sure the spoon is scraping around the bottom of the mug.
  4. Cook in microwave on 100W for 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Check that it is cooked in the middle by inserting a wooden skewer. If it comes out clean, it is cooked.

Tip: You can add chopped berries to the mug, once mixture is stirred, for something a bit different.
