Meet the Growers
Proudly partnering with local potato growers to bring you the best of Australia’s harvest.
Virginia Farm Produce - Four Generations of Spuds and Innovation
Virginia Farm Produce has been proudly growing Aussie potatoes since 1956, when founder Jack Farmer first started digging up spuds in the rich soils of South Australia. Nearly 70 years later, what began as a humble family patch has flourished into a fourth-generation farming business spanning 95,000 acres across the Adelaide Plains and South East SA.
These days, Matthew Farmer leads the charge, with the next generation already stepping in to keep the legacy alive. From supplying ALDI’s very first store back in 2001, Virginia Farm Produce has been proudly delivering premium, Australian-grown potatoes to our growing network of stores.
A “Dirt to Door” Difference
What makes Virginia Farm Produce unique is their complete control of the process. Every spud is grown, harvested, washed, packed, and sent out directly from family-owned land. This ensures quality, consistency, and full traceability from paddock to plate. It’s farming the Aussie way: hands-on, family-driven, and future-focused.
Powered by Innovation
Forget the idea of farming as “low-tech.” These spud growers are running equipment fancier than most supercars, with four-row harvesters and optical graders snapping 90 images of every potato to guarantee top quality. They even pioneered Australia’s first microwaveable mini potatoes - the quick, tasty, weeknight hero that goes from microwave or air fryer to the dinner table in minutes.
Good for the Land, Great for the Community
Virginia Farm Produce treats sustainability as non-negotiable. From rotating crops to protect soil health, to reusing by-products as livestock feed, they run a closed-loop system where nothing goes to waste. They’ve also built strong ties with their local communities, supporting local clubs, helping schools, and even sponsoring a goat for the ag students at the Royal Adelaide Show.
For the Farmers, potatoes aren’t just a crop - they’re a family tradition, a community connection, and a proud Aussie product that’s been on our dinner tables for generations.
