How to make Easy Cottage Pie


  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced).
  2. Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic and cook for 3 minutes, stirring regularly.
  3. Add mince and cook for 5 minutes or until browned – break up any lumps with a wooden spoon.
  4. Add pasta sauce, tomato paste, baked beans, worcestershire sauce and herbs and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Add frozen vegetables and mix well. Remove bay leaf and set mixture aside.
  6. Meanwhile, cook the potatoes in a pot of boiling water until tender. Drain well. Transfer potatoes to a large bowl and mash until smooth. Add butter and milk and combine well. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Spoon the mince mixture into a baking dish and top with mashed potato. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
