Hommus with Spiced Beef Recipe

How to make Hommus with Spiced Beef

  1. Pickle the onion first. Place the sliced onion into a small bowl and top with the vinegar, salt and sugar. Mix to combine and set aside to pickle for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Place a frying pan over a medium-high heat and add the oil and the chopped onion. Cook for 5 minutes or until softened. Add the beef and cook until starting to colour, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Add the cinnamon and garlic salt and season with pepper. Cook until nicely browned then stir in half of the pine nuts and take off the heat.
  3. Spread the hommus onto a board or platter and top with the pickled onion and warm beef. Sprinkle with pomegranate seeds and the remaining pine nuts. Top with parsley and drizzle with olive oil. Serve with grilled Lebanese bread.

Tip: The pickled onion can be made in larger quantities and stored in the fridge for up to a week.
