How to make Spicy Braised Tofu

Method

  1. Make the sauce by mixing the garlic, ginger, soy and water together. If using kimchi, add this also.
  2. Cut the tofu into 12 squares by slicing in half lenghtways, then cutting both pieces into 6.
  3. Place the oil into a non-stick frying pan set over a high heat. Add the tofu and cook for a few minutes on each side or until lightly coloured.
  4. Remove the tofu from the pan and add the sauce. Reduce the heat to medium and cook the sauce for 2 minutes. Add the tofu back to the pan, ensuring it’s nicely coated with the sauce.
  5. Serve the tofu and sauce over brown rice with some steamed pak choi. Top with toasted sesame seeds, red chilli slices, sliced shallots and coriander leaves.

Optional: Try substituting out the pak choi with your choice of leafy green vegetables, such as broccoli, broccolini or kale would be equally delicious.
